Winter Percussion
Winter percussion, also known as indoor percussion, is a competitive marching season just for percussion, which runs from November - April. Winter Percussion is great for percussionists who want to maintain their playing abilities after fall marching band season, AND for brass/woodwind players who want to learn a percussion instrument! The Winter Percussion ensemble is made up of a battery (drumline) and front ensemble (pit). The battery performs music and drill, while the front ensemble remains stationary. The ensemble performs inside a gym on a large mat (called a "floor"), printed or painted with a unique design. The members wear unique uniforms specifically for the winter season.
Like fall marching band, Winter Percussion rehearses Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, then competes at various competitions throughout the Bay Area.
