To cover the many expenses associated with DHS Music, it is expected that you will make an annual donation to the DHS Friends of Music for the amounts listed below. While you technically cannot be required to make your participant contribution, your donation is absolutely necessary. We receive only $3,600 from the school district and the approved budget for 2023-24 is set at $287,200. Contributions are expected at registration or at the beginning of the school year.

Band Contribution Amounts

Why these amounts?
It costs $46,000 per year to hire marching band instructors alone. To have drill written, another $5,000. Music? $7,000. Props? $4,000. Then, there's Color Guard silks. Buses. Competition fees. Instruments. The list goes on. Unfortunately, the school district only provides about $2,000 per year – a drop in the bucket for a major band program like Dublin High School's. On top of marching band costs, there are also section coaches and sheet music purchases for Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Ensemble, plus concert festivals which can be expensive. It takes every family's contribution to make the year come together.
How do I know which of these to pay?
- If your child is in Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, or Jazz Ensemble, then they are part of the Irish Guard Marching Band and Color Guard. So that amount would apply to you. The 2023-24 donation amount is set to $725 for band and color guard.
- Members of Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band need concert music and have competition/festival fees to cover, so there is an additional donation ($225 for Symphonic and Wind Ensemble; $350 for Jazz Band). The 203-24 donation is requested to be made along with your Marching Band contribution at the start of the season. Note: Students enrolled in more than one additional band are only required to pay one additional contribution. Please email treasurer@dhsirishguard.org for more details.
- New members of Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Ensemble have new student concert attire too. Students will need to buy their own. Winter Percussion and Winter Guard only apply to students who participate in those programs.

While the school district provides about $2,000 per year for sheet music, it's simply not enough when shared with the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Ensemble. On top of sheet music costs, there's the cost of purchasing school instruments. Lastly, Mr. Polot invites professional section coaches and guest clinicians to work with the Orchestra. These are professionals that can cost hundreds of dollars each time they visit. It takes every family's contribution to make their visits a possibility.
Choir Contribution Amounts
Why these amounts?
The average piece of choral music is about $70. While the school district provides about $2,000 per year for sheet music, it's simply not enough when shared with all the choirs. On top of sheet music costs, the choirs require a piano accompanist to be hired. Ms. Yackley also enjoys bringing in guest clinicians to work with the choirs. These are professionals that can cost hundreds of dollars each time they visit. It takes every family's contribution to make their visits a possibility.
I didn't realize I was supposed to do this. Is it too late?
It's never too late to donate! If you haven't contributed for Marching Band, Orchestra, Color Guard, Winter Percussion or Winter Guard you still can. Just drop a check with your student's name on it in the secure band mailbox located next to Mr. Polot's office. Payment Plans
To sign up for monthly payments, select the contribution amount based on the ensembles for which your student participates. If you have more than one student, please complete individual monthly payment subscriptions. If you need to pay for multiple ensembles, (for example fall Color Guard and Winterguard) you will need to complete individual monthly payment subscriptions for each. Unfortunately, we are not able to combine multiple students and/or multiple ensembles into one aggregate monthly payment subscription. Select Subscribe and you will be sent to PayPal to provide your payment information. You will be billed monthly for four (4) or nine (9) consecutive months based on the ensemble chosen.
